Biography
Alex English is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. He has opened for and toured with such acts as: Michael Che, Roy Wood Jr., Michelle Wolf, and Colin Jost. His musings as a self-proclaimed “millennial-in-the-middle” have also earned him opportunities to perform for various American colleges and universities.
Alex English’s most recent television appearances include: “Inside Amy Schumer,” “That Damn Michael Che,” “Pause with Sam Jay,” and “High Maintenance.”
English made his Comedy Central stand-up debut on “Ilana Glazer Presents: Tight Five,” and can also be seen on the second season of SeeSo’s “Night Train with Wyatt Cenac.”
New York Magazine has listed him as a “Comedian You Should & Will Know.” He was also lauded as one of “The Queer Young Comics Redefining American Humor” by the New York Times.
In 2020, he was cast in the reboot of National Lampoon: The Radio Hour.
Alex is currently a writer on Saturday Night Live and in 2022 received his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series in his first season.
He’s previously written for BET’s critically-acclaimed The Rundown with Robin Thede, as well as Netflix’s The Fix with Jimmy Carr.
English lives in New York City, where he is a regular performer at the Comedy Cellar, and co-hosts DAD Comedy at The Jane Hotel.
