Biography
Kuan-wen Huang is a Taiwanese comedian based in London. He recorded two series of Comedy Central Live in 2023 and 2022 after first being featured in Comedy Central at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2020. His debut solo show “Ilha Formosa” was nominated for Best Show at Leicester Comedy Festival in 2023 and with this show, Kuan-wen was included in The Guardian’s Top 10 Jokes of the Fringe and appeared on BBC Radio 4’s “Fresh From the Fringe” in the same year. The show was later transferred to a sold-out performance at the Soho Theatre, followed by a European tour.
Kuan-wen was nominated for the inaugural Channel 4 Sean Lock Comedy Award and has written for and acted in East Mode with Nigel Ng on Comedy Central. Kuan-wen also appeared on BBC Radio 4’s sketch comedy “Drop The Dead Panda”, nominated for Best Radio Sketch Show 2021, and Channel 4’s digital series “Jokes Only An Immigrant Can Tell”.
Kuan-wen is also a proud queer performer, featured regularly in Pride events, Soho Theatre’s “The Night Before The Pride” as well as 21 Soho’s LGBTQ+ History line-ups. Kuan-wen is a regular host for the LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year competition.
