Biography.
Russell Hicks is one of the UK’s most razor-sharp and exciting comic talents. An American based in London, he is a provocative and exuberant comedian with a rockstar edge, and has appeared on some of the UK’s biggest TV networks, including Channel 4, BBC and ITV.
His masterful weaving of improvisation with material has earned him a devoted following, with hundreds of thousands of followers across social media.
Russell headlines at every major club across the UK, including The Stand, Glee Club and Up the Creek, and holds a residency at Top Secret Comedy Club in London.
He also compères major events like the Leeds and Reading Festivals, as well as curated indie venues, historic theatres like the Hammersmith Apollo, and private members clubs across Europe.
For his undeniable and prolific work in live performance, Russell was endorsed as a Global Talent by Arts Council England in 2022.
Russell starred in the Prime Video series Lovestruck High, which was narrated by Lindsay Lohan, as the loveable Texan Coach Hughes. He’s written for and starred in ITV’s Stand Up Sketch Show and won the Channel 4 competition series Captive Audience with his fully improvised stand-up.
Russell regularly entertains studio audiences at Have I Got News For You, The Last Leg, and As Yet Untitled. He is a Spotlight registered actor and enjoys both comic and dramatic roles.
This is alongside his Stateside work with legendary Hollywood clubs The Comedy Store, The Improv and The Laugh Factory.
A talented voice actor, Russell is the voice of Sky Comedy and Great Big Story, and frequently works for international brands in global campaigns. He is a presenter on Yahoo Entertainment. Russell regularly opens for his friends Axel Blake (Winner of Britain’s Got Talent), Simon Brodkin, Al Murray, and more.
He still can’t believe he gets to make people laugh for a living, travel the world, and most importantly, not wake up early on Monday mornings.
