Biography
Born and raised in Leeds, Sapphire is a football playing, vox-popping, observational, high energy comedian, actor and writer. She’s been curating her own style of comedy for the past decade and mixes comedy with a slice of realism into everything that she does, using comedy as a way of talking to people about challenging social issues.
She is also a talented footballer and a former professional player who has played for Leeds United and England.
In 2018 she was a semi-finalist in the BBC Caroline Aherne Bursary which is awarded to new and upcoming comedy talent. In 2020 she performed in the Fringe of Colour online arts festival which runs during the Edinburgh Festival to showcase films by black people and people of colour.
In 2022 she made her Edinburgh Festival stand-up debut in the acclaimed ‘Best in Class’ showcase that champions up-and-coming working-class comedians, at the Counting House. The show won the Panel Prize at the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Awards and then reunited to perform for one night only at the Soho Theatre in April 2023.
She had a 4 month residency at Comedy Virgins at the Cavendish Arms in 2022 and subsequently came 3rd in their Max Turner Comedy Awards. Other awards include winning the Victoria Comedy Cup, also in 2022.
She has appeared in a number of comedy sketch shows such as online sketch show ‘Spoon the Prune’, as well as appearing in Channel 4’s 2021 Comedy Shorts series.
