Stephen has also appeared on many TV shows including Coronation Street & Good Morning Britain (ITV), The Apprentice: You’re Fired (BBC Two), Roast Battle, Takeshi’s Castle & Comedy Central at the Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Safeword, CelebAbility & The Great Xmas Rant (ITV2), Wardrobe Secrets (ITVBe), Celebrity Advice Bureau (W), Celebrity 5 Go Camping, Do The Right Thing with Eamonn and Ruth, It’s Not Me, It’s You & The Jeremy Vine Show (Channel 5)… but still cannot get on Strictly.
Stephen is a cocktail of class, caring and comedy, with the most flamboyant umbrella to top it all off. He’s a comedian, presenter, television personality and writer, whose friendly and open brand of gossipy humour has made him one of the UK’s most exciting up-and-coming acts in comedy at the moment and an in demand talent for all things showbiz/entertainment.
Most recently, he replaced Rylan Clarke-Neal as the narrator of ITV Be’s Ferne McCann: First Time Mum and took over as host of Takeshi’s Castle on Comedy Central, following in the footsteps of Craig Charles, Jonathan Ross and Roman Kemp. He would now like all their other work. Stephen wrote and starred in his own lockdown mini-series for Comedy Central Comedians in Quarantine: House Olympics. At the start of the year, his star grew as he took on Celebrity Coach Trip (E4). he’s returned to host the third series of Celebs on the Farm for MTV and he even made his BBC Radio 4 debut on Sarah Millican’s Elephant in the Room. Furthermore, he hosted UK Radio Pride during the pandemic taking gay pride to the airwaves. His show was broadcast over multiple stations.
It’s been a busy few years for Stephen as he was the resident Agony Uncle on Zoe Ball on Saturday/Sunday (ITV) and a series regular on Big Brother’s Bit on the Side (Channel 5) until the end of their runs.
In 2019, Comedy Central Live – Stephen Bailey; his first 30 minute stand-up special was released.
Stephen has previously supported Katherine Ryan and Jenny Éclair on their sold-out UK tours.
He also guest hosted Sunday Takeover (Virgin Radio), The Jason Manford Show (Absolute Radio), Drivetime with Eamonn Holmes (TalkRadio), The Breakfast Show (Gaydio) and The Sunday Sessions with Laura Whitmore (BBC 5Live). He has featured on The Art’s Show with Jonathan Ross on BBC Radio 2 and Russell Kane’s BBC podcast ‘Evil Genius’.
Stephen also performs at corporate and private events. He is available for after dinner comedy sets, hosting, Q&A sessions and more. A clip of him discussing LGBT rights on AOL Build went viral in 2017 and during lockdown, he started a true-crime podcast with his lawyer boyfriend called Order in the Bedroom.
In 2015, his show was nominated for the Amused Moose Comedy Award (Best Show). He performs at many corporate and charity events – including Stonewall, Paddy Power, RUComingOut, NFL and WellChild
As well as being a working-class, ginger, gay, northern comic, he is also a black belt in Tae Kwon-Do, has a degree in Languages AND loves a conspiracy theory (preferably involving a celebrity and a cucumber).
