Hurricane Beryl is just the latest Hurricane to rip through the Caribbean. Over the past few years the people in the region are living on the sharp end of climate change, and things are not going to improve without proper, long term investment in the infrastructure. In the meantime several islands have been devastated. People have lost the roofs from their homes leading to the loss of property including clothing, furniture, vital paperwork and even their children’s toys. The electricity supplies and mobile networks services have been interrupted. They need our help to replace these items and rebuild.
For many of us here in the UK, we view the Caribbean as our other home. We have familial and cultural ties to the region. We therefore cannot sit back and do nothing. Join us for a night of comedy, poetry and spoken word as we Connect 4 The Caribbean. There will prizes and raffles to be won. All proceeds from the night will be donated to Caribbean relief efforts.
There will be an opportunity to win dinner (at his expense) with critically acclaimed journalist and author Gary Younge sometime in the autumn.
