Biography.
Between spoofing Matt Hancock’s mischief with a viral parody and setting the internet alight with Salt Bae impersonations, Munya has amassed over 1 billion views across social media during the last 2 years.
Entertaining the nation with characters such as Unknown P, Nigella, Jonny Oliver, Barty Crease & Brandon, Munya has made waves on mainstream British television too. Displaying (ahem…) raw talent on BBC One’s Celebrity Masterchef, roasting romantic disasters on Sky One’s Dating No Filter through, and hosting Channel 4’s Complaints Welcome each week, Munya has become a mainstay on primetime British television.
Behind the camera, Munya has turned his talents to writing on projects such as ‘Death to 2020’ alongside Charlie Brooker for Netlifx, as well as executively producing his debut YouTube Originals series ‘Race Around Britain’ for which he was awarded ‘Presenter of the Year’ at the Royal Television Society Awards.
Chawawa’s work has led to a string of features in titles from The Guardian, New York Times, The Observer, GQ Magazine, Complex and, most recently, the front page of Time Out Magazine’s Comedy Special.
His win at the 2021 National Comedy Awards for Best Breakthrough Comedian firmly places Munya as one of the UK’s leading satirists, writers, and entertainers.
